Sacramento Philharmonic

I am working on music like a mad woman! That's what I am supposed to be doing, right? One of the things that I am working on is Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 for voice and 8 cellos. This is what I will be performing for my first official professional job here in CA and I am really excited about it! First of all, the piece is lush and dreamy and passionate; perfection! Secondly, it's going to be for the Target-sponsered Family Concert. This is the same concept that Leonard Bernstein came up with for his Young People's Concerts. It's the same concert as the night before for the subscribers, but with more explanation to prepare the young audience's ears for the piece. It's right up my alley! I look forward to writing about how everything goes! Wish me luck!

    Dear Carrie,
How wonderful to hear from you! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I'm on sabbatical this year, loafing and writing. I may get to both Spain and Costa Rica this year for conferences, depending upon whether or not funding is forthcoming. I wish I had known that you were going to be in Minneapolis. I certainly would have made the trek to see (and hear) you. I'm sure you must keep in touch with Janet Ahern. She must be so proud of you, as I am. Do you ever get back to Minnesota? Do you still have family here? Love to hear from you. Take care. Un abrazo, Stacey
