Cosi Fan Tutte
In August I was doing my due diligence about finding and scheduling auditions. I got an e-mail back from a small company in the Sacramento area saying that they needed a Dorabella for their production of Mozart's "Cosi Fan Tutte". I said, of course I can do that! I said yes before I had actually looked at the score. I knew a few of the duets and trios, but nothing else. I had 2 days to get this role under my belt for rehearsals. I had it learned quite well in 2 days, except for the recitatives (which are the conversational portions of the opera) that had been cut dramatically and were extremely difficult to rehearse on my own.
Through a long list of unfortunate events, the production fell through and only resulted in a small recital at one of the 2 scheduled venues. I learned that I AM able to learn and get even the most difficult music into my body quickly, which was great. I also met some great people through the experience and will be seeing them soon!
